Since 1943 these Kukris have been made by one government contractor - Windlass Steelcrafts. The original, official military issue! A must for outdoor activities that require chopping and cutting.
Made to current military specifications, it is hand forged from high carbon steel and comes with a regulation sheath. This kukri has a 13-1/2" long blade that is double fullered. It also features the traditional religious notch symbolic of the trident (3 pronged spear) of Shiva. At a little over 1/4" thick, this is a very powerful chopping blade. The polished, native hardwood handle is reinforced by a brass bolster and a brass pommel with a raised lion's head decoration. Comes factory sharp.
It also includes 2 accessory knives - the Chakmak & Karda, a traditional part of the kukri. The chakmak has no edge. It is a honing/sharpening tool of hardened “sharpening” steel with a wood handle. This tool is used to is to maintain the kukri edge and ensure it always has a sharp and burr-free edge. The chakmak also makes a great as a striker since the spine is flat and rigid. The karda, on the other hand, does have an edge. This little knife is great for detailed tasks such as skinning, carving, or whittling.
