OVERVIEW
Although earlier Besses had barrels up to 46" long, it was found that shortening the barrel did not diminish accuracy. Shorter barrels made handling easier, of course, so the "Short Land Pattern" was born. The India Pattern model featured a swan neck cock and three brass pipes to hold the ramrod in place. This is a flintlock musket loader with a 39" barrel, and made like the originals, with working trigger, lock and strike mechanisms, steel barrel, ramrod and hardware, brass trigger guard and butt plate. Solid barrel, so it cannot fire. Otherwise, it's just like the real thing, with authentic materials and weight. Please note: This item was photographed with some of the packing grease still on it. There is no rust on this gun.
