OVERVIEW
The army of Romania made the M73 helmet issue in 1973, looking for ways to distinguish itself from the USSR and Soviet influenced military gear. This is a genuine surplus model 2 paratrooper version, complete with an adjustable shock absorbing liner, earcups (which were designed for headphone use) and chinstrap.
This is a genuine surplus Romanian M73 Model 2 Paratrooper helmet. The army of Romania made the M73 helmet issue in 1973, looking for ways to distinguish itself from the USSR and Soviet influenced military gear. This was part of a bigger movement by Romania to operate more independently of the Russians. This is the model 2 paratrooper version, complete with an adjustable shock absorbing liner, earcups (which were designed for headphone use) and chinstrap. Camouflage netting is still intact, but may have a few occasional breaks (see photos). This helmet was still in use up to around 1989. Used but very good condition. Some oxidation exhibited.
